Make sure to put the utilities into your name before the start of the lease period. It is typically cheaper to have the Utilities just switch the service into your name (even if the service will start a day or two before you move in) than to pay a hook-up fee. If you do not connect the utilities by the first day of the lease, an additional charge of $25.00, per utility, is billed to you by the landlord.
